Complacency in the Workplace
Complacency in the Workplace
What does complacency mean: The word complacent means you are pleased with yourself and everything that you achieve.
Complacency in the workplace is where you are not entirely focused on the task you are presently completing; when you have a repetitive job you can become complacent. Meaning that you could assume it’s always completed in the same manner so there is no need to turn your attention to new things around you. Complacency can be defined as being comfortable with a lack of interest in key organisational areas that need improvement and growth. All companies in today’s economic environment need to focus on the changing climate of businesses, Bath Business Web included. Many companies have a workforce which can be classed as idle, which means individual employees are not utilized to their best potential. Employees can complete a day’s work, day in day out, month in month out, by just doing the minimum to get by without drawing attention to themselves. This is not helping to progress any businesses.
Bath Business Web realise that processes within companies to engage with employees to ascertain if they are happy and focused on their work normally takes place at assessment time, but sometimes employees look for new careers and move on before the HR department even gets to know that an individual is not fully fulfilled.
When businesses are performing well and sales are increasing, it is easy for all members to become complacent. There can be an air of overconfidence around the workplace. Whilst it is important for employees to be proud of their success, they should never act as though the climate may not change.
No matter what your position is from a CEO to an office junior we should all have the same amount of pride and deliver each day a good days work, and feel we have achieved the best we can. It’s a self satisfying position to be in.
At Bath Business Web, we strive to let everyone know that complacency is a dangerous act and that all businesses should have a web presence. Potential clients should be able to find them online, as the web is the largest performing media of all time.
"Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark. You know what you are doing but nobody else does."
